Welcome to the Clark Cemetery Association Website
Honoring Legacy. Preserving History. Connecting Families.
Located about nine miles north of Weatherford, Texas, in Northeast Parker County, Clark Cemetery stands as a testament to the resilience, courage, and enduring spirit of the pioneer families who helped settle Parker County. This site is dedicated to the memory, preservation, and rich history of those interred here—most of whom are descendants of the brave men and women who shaped this region in the mid-1800s.
A Place of History
Parker County was established in 1855, during a time when the surrounding land was still wild, often under threat from Kiowa and Comanche tribes. Settling here required tremendous bravery. Women disguised themselves as men for safety; families endured hardships such as disease, war, and unpredictable weather. The Civil War in 1861 left many women, like the courageous Ann Barker, to manage homes and protect children on their own. Even something as simple as a rainstorm, as in the case of Lewis McDonald, could prove fatal.
Yet, despite the dangers, many families such as the Barkers, Clarks, Dobbs, Godfreys, McDonalds, Pattons, and Wards came to farm, build churches and schools, and establish a community that would endure for over 150 years. Today, Clark Cemetery holds nearly 500 known interments, with most individuals connected by blood or marriage.
A Historic Landmark
On February 16, 2011, Clark Cemetery was officially declared a Texas Historic Cemetery by the Texas Historical Commission. A dedication ceremony followed on October 12, 2013, celebrating this milestone with family members and guests. You can view photos and videos of this memorable event in our Photos and Videos sections.
